Director, Scientific Affairs
LabCorp
Danville, Indiana
Eric Thomas serves as Director within Scientific Affairs at LabCorp. He joined Labcorp (then Covance) in 2011 and has led Bioanalytical teams - primarily focused on quantitative mass spectrometry. In 2023, he moved into his current role within Scientific Affairs. In this role, he is responsible for connecting scientists inside (and outside) of the Labcorp organization - and provides guidance on scientific innovation and regulatory requirements.
Eric is a graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (BS, Chemistry) and the University of Michigan (PhD, Medicinal Chemistry). As a doctoral candidate, he explored tRNA modification via molecular biology and enzymology. He performed postdoctoral work with Neil Kelleher at the University of Illinois, focusing on proteomic analysis of histone modifications in cell culture and tissue samples. He then served as a staff scientist at the Moffitt Cancer Center, supporting protein biomarker analysis via mass spectrometry. While much of his career has been focused on quantiative mass spectrometry for PK / PD assessments, he is eager to engage with next-gen technologies. Eric has contributed to numerous publications and presentations and remains active in forums such as AAPS, WRIB, GCC, and EBF - and looks forward to future opportunities to connect with scientists.
