Artificial Intelligence (AI) is created by humans, which means these complex models created are subject to the same biases of the creators. In addition, AI typically leverage large data sets, and the data may also contain biases in it. We will do a quick fire specifically on survivorship bias, which concentrates on the data that "survived" some process and inadvertently overlooking excluding data that didn't because of its lack of visibility. We will explore what survivorship bias is and what signs to look out for.
Learning Objectives:
Define what survivorship bias is.
Recognize some of its signs in models such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.
